The Work As a software developer on the GMD Weapon System (GWS) Fire Control (GFC) Engagement Planner team, you will work in collaborative environment to understand, implement, and test existing and new capabilities and algorithms and may participate in code modernization and translating Ada code to C++. The algorithms and capabilities implemented by the Engagement Planner team are mathematics and physics based complex solutions that will be highly visible to the GWS customer, Missile Defense Agency (MDA). You will also be expected to support reviews of requirements and test cases that are developed in support of the Engagement Planner team. Standard Job Description Plans, conducts, and coordinates software development activities. Designs, develops, documents, tests, and debugs software that contains logical and mathematical solutions to business/mission problems or questions in computer language for solutions by means of data processing equipment. Applies the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle. Applies knowledge of computer hardware and software, subject matter to be programmed in business/mission applications, information processing techniques used, and information gathered from system users to develop software. Corrects program errors, prepares operating instructions, compiles documentation of program development, and analyzes system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls. Ensures software standards are met. Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in STEM related field, and 2 years of related experience, or a Master's degree with 0 years of related experience. Experience with solving highly mathematical and physics based complex problems Experience analyzing and implementing optimization algorithms Recent demonstration of Ada or C++ Software Development Recent MATLAB and Python Experience Must have an Active Secret Clearance Unix/Linux Operating System Experience Read and interpret Modeling and Simulation Must be able to support an in-person / closed-area work environment Desired Skills Experience with solving highly mathematical and physics based complex problems involving developing fire control solutions Highly experience with Linux, scripting, and operations Prior experience with Missile Defense Agency (MDA) programs and/or systems Experience with automated software requirements testing and analysis Experience with Software Containerization and Orchestration (Kubernetes, Helm Charts, Docker) Experience with Agile Project Management tools (Jira/Confluence) and DevSecOps tools and methods (Jenkins, Ansible, Git/Gitlab) of continuous integration/continuous
