About this role Job Overview Lead the Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) program across BlackRock’s India operations, ensuring a safe, healthy, and sustainable work environment in alignment with global standards, local regulatory requirements, and best practices. This role will manage India HSE, with direct responsibility for the India North campus (Gurgaon) and oversight of HSE delivery across all India locations. The role will line manage the India West South HSE Manager (Mumbai/Bangalore) and partner closely with Workplace Operation, Security, Enterprise Resilience, HR, and business leadership to drive a strong safety culture and consistent execution across the region.
Key Responsibilities
Own day-to-day HSE execution for the Gurgaon campus, including risk identification, mitigation, and operational delivery. Serve as the site subject matter expert, providing hands-on guidance to local stakeholders and supporting projects, workplace changes, and incident management. Ensure strong on-the-ground presence through inspections, audits, and engagement activities. Line manage and provide direction to the India West South HSE Manager, supporting capability development, prioritization, and performance delivery. Oversee development and maintenance of the India HSE risk register, ensuring effective controls for key risks (e.g., fire safety, ergonomics, contractor safety). Ensure compliance with Indian HSE laws and regulations (e.g., Factories Act, Fire Safety Rules, environmental requirements). Ensure consistent application of global programs (ergonomics, incident management, food safety, etc.) across all sites. Manage emergency preparedness, including fire safety, evacuation planning, drills, emergency roles, equipment and training. Manage incident reporting, investigation, and corrective action tracking across the region. Ensure delivery of regular HSE inspections, audits, and walkthroughs across all locations. Drive continuous improvement initiatives based on data insights and risk trends. Promote a strong safety culture through awareness campaigns, communications, and leadership engagement. Ensure all vendors, contractors, and project teams comply with BlackRock HSE standards and permit-to-work requirements. Oversee contractor onboarding, inductions, and safety governance across projects and sites. Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in HSE, Industrial Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health, or related field. NEBOSH International General Certificate/Diploma, ISO 45001/14001 Lead Auditor, or equivalent certification preferred. 8-12 years of HSE experience , including experience managing multi-site or regional programs. Demonstrated experience leading teams or managing regional HSE delivery. Strong knowledge of Indian HSE regulations and global safety standards. Experience in corporate office environments, multi-site portfolios, or complex campus settings preferred. Strong stakeholder management and ability to operate across strategic and operational levels.
