Job Description

AECOM is seeking a highly motivated TSMO & Traffic Management Center (TMC) Technician to support Transportation Systems Management & Operations (TSMO), Traffic Incident Management (TIM), Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), and Traffic Management Center (TMC) operations throughout Tennessee, North Carolina, and South Carolina. This position is a hands-on transportation operations role responsible for supporting and assisting with the day-to-day operation of Traffic Management Centers, incident management activities, TIM training, and implementation of transportation technologies. The successful candidate will work closely with TSMO engineers, transportation operations staff, public safety agencies, and client personnel to improve roadway safety, mobility, and operational performance. The ideal candidate will possess practical experience in traffic operations, emergency response, TIM, TMC operations, ITS technologies, and multi-agency coordination.

Key Responsibilities

Traffic Management Center Operations Manage and/or assist in the management of Traffic Management Center (TMC) operations. Monitor roadway conditions, incidents, special events, weather impacts, and traffic operations utilizing ITS technologies and transportation management systems. Coordinate incident response activities with transportation agencies, law enforcement, fire departments, EMS, emergency management agencies, and towing and recovery partners. Assist with incident detection, verification, response coordination, lane closure management, and traveler information dissemination. Support development and maintenance of TMC standard operating procedures, operational plans, and response protocols. Assist with performance monitoring, reporting, and evaluation of transportation operations activities. Support 24/7 operational environments as required. Traffic Incident Management (TIM) Assist in the development, updating, and delivery of Traffic Incident Management (TIM) training programs. Serve as an instructor or co-instructor for TIM, responder safety, and transportation operations training courses. Coordinate training activities with transportation agencies, law enforcement, fire service, EMS, towing and recovery organizations, and emergency management stakeholders. Assist with TIM program development, stakeholder engagement, and performance monitoring initiatives. Promote national TIM best practices, responder safety principles, NIMS, and Incident Command System (ICS) concepts.
