If the role interests you and you would like to be considered we encourage you to apply!! The hourly rate pay for this position at Scotts will generally fall between $21.00 - 21.00 per hour and is paid weekly. Scotts will consider various factors in determining the actual pay including your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location. Are you looking to bridge the gap between classroom theory and real-world industrial application? We are seeking a high-energy Engineering & Operations Intern to join our team. You will be an integral part of our facility’s lifecycle, assisting with everything from critical CAD updates and utility surveys to managing small-scale capital projects. What you’ll do in this role Technical Documentation: Perform field verification of "as-built" conditions and update facility drawings using CAD software. Process Standardization: Create and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure safety and operational efficiency. Utility & Sustainability Surveys: Conduct steam trap surveys, identify compressed air leaks, and lead equipment/pipe labeling initiatives to improve plant transparency. Vendor Relations: Interface with suppliers to gather technical data, troubleshoot instrumentation (meters, level sensors), and secure quotes for upcoming needs. Project Coordination: Own "minor" projects from start to finish under the guidance of senior engineering staff. Additional Opportunities: Optimization & Design: Identify equipment improvements (e.g., pump sizing, lighting efficiency) and propose new facility layouts for E-commerce or production lines. Contractor Management: Lead walk-throughs with external contractors and provide on-site direction during installations. Data Analytics: Dive into Downtime, Fiix (CMMS), and Utility data to identify and present cost-saving opportunities. Capital Projects: Assist in the execution of major installations, such as new labeling systems, direct case printing, or line expansions. Qualifications: Education: Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering (or a related technical field). Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software is required. Familiarity with Microsoft Excel for data analysis is a plus. Mindset: A "field-first" mentality—you are comfortable spending time on the plant floor, climbing ladders, and investigating equipment. Communication: Strong interpersonal skills for interfacing with both internal stakeholders and external vendors. Continuous Improvement: A natural curiosity for how things work and a desire to make them better. Not interested in this role?
