The Senior Accountant reports to the Director of Accounting. This role will be responsible for assisting with accounting aspects of the business, and requires understanding of accounting and the ability to partner with the NBC News organization, as well as NBCUniversal’s various business units. Responsible for the coordination and/or preparation of monthly/quarterly close deliverables. Maintain and complete assigned Blackline account reconciliations, ensuring timely certification, proper backup, and resolution of reconciling items Prepare monthly journal entries to properly record accounting transactions, ensuring that journal entries have proper backup to substantiate the entry. Assist controllership function and ensure compliance with accounting policies and internal controls. Research ways of streamlining and standardizing processes within designated area of responsibility Assist with adhoc requests and deliverables Qualifications Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance 2+ years of experience in Accounting or Finance, with demonstrated progression Experience in media/entertainment industry preferred Technical skills, including ability to interpret and apply accounting standards to business transactions CPA & Public Accounting experience, preferred Computer skills, including SAP, AOE, Excel Desired Characteristics Ability to multitask and work in a fast paced, dead-line driven environment Accustomed to working in a team and collaborating with all levels within the organization Detail oriented and organized Process and system awareness, including the ability to identify and mitigate control weaknesses Solid communication skills Demonstrated ability to build working relationships with key partners Ability to work in a fast, dynamic environment and prioritize competing priorities Hybrid: This position currently has a hybrid schedule, which requires contributing from the New York, NY office a minimum of four days per week.
