In Discovery Pharmaceutics and Analytical Sciences, you will impact the lives of patients by working with multidisciplinary research teams to help discover novel, efficacious and safe therapeutics. BMS is looking for a motivated Scientist with a desire to contribute to the fast-paced discovery matrix environment by conducting biophysical characterization and preformulation studies for potential new biologic candidates. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of analytical techniques for large molecules, as well as biophysical properties of new biologic candidates as they relate to compound liability and developability profiles. The successful candidate will be expected to apply emerging digital and AI-enabled approaches, where scientifically appropriate, to strengthen biologics candidate assessment, improve experimental design, accelerate data interpretation, and enhance decision-making in discovery pharmaceutics and analytical sciences.

Job Responsibilities

Carry out and interpret biophysical characterization and preformulation studies on potential new biologics candidates, with the purpose to define their developability and liability profiles to support candidate assessment and nomination. Provide experimental, computational, and AI-enabled input to protein discovery scientists during design and screening of new biologics entities, using appropriate predictive models, data mining approaches, and informatics tools to support lead optimization, candidate identification, characterization, and selection. Strategically design and guide the development of formulations suitable for use in drug discovery pharmacology studies, PK studies and initial exploratory toxicology studies. Work with discovery teams to enable drug discovery through application of innovative drug delivery technologies, devices, and data-driven or AI-enabled approaches, internally and externally, to support more effective delivery of biologics. Contribute to and help shape the strategic direction of Discovery Pharmaceutics & Analytical Sciences, strengthening its role as a problem-solving partner for biologics discovery teams and enabling seamless transfer of candidates to development. Advance the capabilities of the larger candidate optimization organization by developing scientific expertise that strengthens understanding of how biophysical properties influence overall biopharmaceutical performance of proteins, antibodies, and other large molecule modalities. Job Requirements/Education Ph.D. with 0-2 years of experience or MS with 3+ years of experience in or Bachelors with 5+ years of experience in Pharmaceutics, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering or related disciplines.
