Job Description

Ares Management is seeking a Vice President (“VP”) for our US Public Credit accounting team. The VP will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting and operations of several semi-liquid closed end U.S. Direct Lending funds and several controlled portfolio companies of the publicly traded business development companies (“BDCs”).      Primary functions and essential responsibilities Assist with preparation and review of US GAAP financial statements for monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual reporting deadlines for the various funds. Collaborate cross-functionally with investment, portfolio management, legal, tax, operations, and finance teams to ensure efficient transaction execution, effective risk management, and seamless post-close integration. Serve as a trusted advisor to key stakeholders, facilitating alignment across functions and driving successful outcomes throughout the investment lifecycle Assist in managing relationships and liaising with internal resources, fund administers and auditors to meet all deadlines. Provide the BDCs and management company with data for quarterly SEC filings. Review quarterly waterfall calculations and review monthly distribution reports from the trustee. Assist with monthly/quarterly close process and review of various financial statement account balance reconciliations and workpapers. Oversee and review daily, monthly and quarterly NAV packages from the fund administrator. Provide and review detailed reporting to investors and internal constituents (portfolio managers, investor relations) Provide compliance reporting (Form PF, ADV, etc.) Demonstrates innovation and strategic thinking in driving business priorities, optimizing processes and leading organizational change Provides oversight and direction on large-scale and complex transformational projects Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field Certification: CPA (preferred) Experience Required:   Minimum 10+ years of experience in fund accounting preferred Public accounting experience, Big 4 (preferred) Industry experience, specifically with bank debt preferred Experience with Advent Geneva, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or Onestream software a plus General Requirements: Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high growth environment Highly motivated team player with a strong work ethic Strong understanding of US GAAP Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial instruments, and regulatory requirements Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Strong verbal and written skills; ability to analyze and summarize complex information both verbally and in writing Ability to multi-task and manage various deadlines Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills Intermediate or advanced Excel user (e.g. complex formulas, macros) PowerBI, Alteryx, Anaplan or other business intelligence tools a plus Reporting Relationships Controller Compensation The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. Total compensation may also include a discretionary performance-based bonus.
