As our business continues to expand across the United States and internationally, we're seeking an experienced and visionary Assistant Vice President, Claims to be an integral member of the claims operations for our specialized niche product portfolio.
This is far more than a traditional claims leadership position. It is an opportunity to become a visible and influential leader within a growing specialty organization, working closely with the President, senior executives, key distribution partners, and WR Berkley corporate leadership. You'll have significant autonomy to shape the direction of the role, strengthen strategic partnerships, and help define the future of our claims organization.

This role will be based in our midtown Manhattan office. We offer a hybrid work schedule with 4 days in the office; and 1 day remote where it makes sense to do so.
What you can expect
Influence Beyond Claims - You'll serve as a trusted advisor to insureds, agents, underwriters, collectors, museums, jewelry industry leaders, and executive stakeholders. Your expertise will help shape customer outcomes, underwriting insights, loss prevention strategies, and business growth initiatives. High Visibility and Executive Exposure - This role offers regular interaction with the President and senior WR Berkley leadership, providing a platform to influence key business decisions and make a measurable impact on organizational success. Industry Presence - You'll represent Berkley Asset Protection at industry events, conferences, art and jewelry exhibitions, and client meetings, helping strengthen our market presence while building relationships across the high-net-worth ecosystem.
We’ll count on you to: In addition to leading complex claims and managing a high-performing team, you'll:
Lead the investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and resolution of complex high-value jewelry and valuable articles claims. Collaborate with jewelry replacement vendors and oversee all aspects of jewelry salvage operations. Partner closely with underwriting teams on large accounts, providing claims insights and supporting pre-bind and post-bind risk management strategies. Work directly with collectors, museums, brokers, agents, and policyholders to provide loss-control guidance and risk mitigation recommendations.
