The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies. Position Summary The intern will join the Data & Analytics team, contributing to the growth and scalability of enterprise data platforms. This opportunity provides hands-on experience with platform engineering, Python software development, Apache Spark, distributed computing, and the infrastructure that supports analytics and artificial intelligence solutions. Key Responsibilities
Support development and enhancement of scalable data and AI platform capabilities. Contribute to software engineering activities using Python. Assist with platform growth, performance, reliability, and operational improvement needs. Work with Apache Spark and distributed computing concepts in support of data workloads. Support testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and implementation activities. Collaborate with platform engineers and partner teams to understand technical requirements. Research tools, patterns, and practices that support platform scalability. Document technical solutions, workflows, and project outcomes.
Requirements
Student pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Analytics, Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills. Ability to learn new technologies, processes, and business concepts quickly. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Self-motivated, organized, and willing to take initiative and learn. Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2027 (May-August 2027) with a graduation date of December 2027 or later Be interested in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full-time job opportunity. Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency in Python through coursework, projects, or prior experience. Familiarity with Apache Spark, big data platforms, or distributed computing concepts.
