About this role

A Snapshot of Your Day Turbine Airfoils Casting simulation engineer plays a pivotal role in transforming how we design and manufacture complex turbine hardware design. You will lead the development and validation of conventional cast & cutting-edge DS (directionally solidified) process modeling, core breakage prediction, and foundry process modeling capabilities. Working at the intersection of design, simulation, and manufacturing, you will focus on upstream design simulation to embed manufacturability early in the development cycle, significantly reducing defects, lead times, and costs while improving component reliability. Job requires regular interaction with global teams hence engineer should have persuasive communication skills and cross-cultural knowledge. How You'll Make an Impact (Gas Turbine, R& D, India) Develop and validate advanced DS process modeling methodologies with a strong emphasis on core breakage prediction and mitigation. Practice Siemens Energy high fidelity, extensively validated, and equiaxed casting simulation modeling methodology to provide expert foundry process modeling support to ensure robust, high-yield casting designs. Drive upstream design simulation initiatives that integrate manufacturability directly into the turbine component design process. Develop new cooling technologies within the constraints of manufacturability, balancing performance, thermal management, and casting feasibility. Collaborate closely with design, materials, and manufacturing teams to create and implement new simulation-driven design-for-manufacturing (DFM) workflows. Identify and resolve critical casting challenges through innovative modeling techniques, data analysis, and real-world validation. Contribute to methodology development that pushes the boundaries of casting simulation accuracy and speed. Be a point of contact, speaking partner and provide expertise regarding hot gas path heat transfer related topics in a project. Developing new concepts and building CAD models using NX, design internal cooling and perform Conjugate Heat Transfer analysis of Turbine Airfoils and Heat Shields using CFX & Star CCM+, performing Casting Simulation using ProCAST. Understanding of fundamental concepts in fluid mechanics (pressure drop) & heat transfer discipline (using non-dimensional correlations). Able to understand physics, apply relevant assumptions, interpret and post process results. Collaborating with project leads in understanding the project requirements, finding solutions to design challenges, and delivering results within agreed timeline & quality. A fraction of time will be dedicated to advancing the technical expertise of other team members and mentoring. What You Bring Mechanical engineer with an MTech in Mechanical engineering (major in Metallurgy and Foundry, Material Science, Fluid & Thermal Science) and demonstrated expertise in the field of Casting, Solidification physics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics. 5 years of experience with parametric CAD modeling in NX. Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in thermal analysis and design of internal cooled gas turbine components. Ability to generate thermal boundary conditions and perform Flow & Heat Transfer engineering calculations under steady state, transient heat transfer (involving all modes i.e. conduction, convection and radiation) and multi-phase CFD/CHT simulations using Star CCM+. (minimum 4 years of experience). Understanding Investment Casting & Solidification physics and experience of running casting simulations using ProCAST and experience of working in foundry would be an advantage. (minimum 2 years of experience). Good knowledge of Design
