The Role
We're looking for an experienced Fire Systems Technician to join our fire protection team, responsible for the installation, commissioning, servicing, maintenance and repair of fire alarm and suppression systems across commercial, industrial and residential sites. You'll work with a range of fire alarm systems, including Gent, Advanced, Kentec and other leading manufacturers, ensuring systems remain compliant, operational and fit for purpose while delivering excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Install, commission, service and maintain fire alarm systems in line with BS 5839. Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), fault finding and repairs. Programme and configure fire alarm control panels and networked systems. Complete upgrades, modifications and remedial works. Service, maintain and test gaseous and water mist fire suppression systems. Attend reactive call-outs and support commissioning/decommissioning activities. Conduct site surveys, technical assessments and provide customer support. Ensure all work is completed in line with quality, health & safety and environmental standards.
About You
Essential: Proven experience within the fire protection industry. Strong knowledge of fire alarm systems, servicing and fault finding. Good understanding of BS 5839 and relevant industry standards. Ability to read technical drawings and system documentation. Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills. Full UK driving licence. Strong communication and customer service skills. Desirable: Experience with Gent, Advanced, Kentec, Morley, Notifier, Ziton, C-Tec, EMS and wireless fire systems. Knowledge of gas suppression systems (FM-200, Novec 1230, Inergen, CO₂), water mist systems, aspirating detection and cause & effect programming. Experience with emergency lighting systems. FIA, BAFE, ECS or manufacturer certifications. Commissioning experience.
