Primary Responsibilities
30% Routine Nuclear Imaging: Performs technical and supportive patient care skills to facilitate the patient's exam Which includes but is not limited to: Performance and archival of all routine imaging procedures including Nuclear Cardiology, dynamic flow studies and SPECT according to policies and procedures established by the nuclear physician 20% Administration of Radioactive Materials: Provides direct patient care skills. Which includes but is not limited to: Administration of radioactive materials to patients for diagnostic and therapeutic applications either intravenously or orally while thoroughly explaining the testing procedures before and during exam. Also performs and documents Waived testing, Respiratory Care and Medical emergency response. Demonstrates knowledge and skill needed to provide safe and effective radioisotope administration and IV skills (venipuncture) 15% Quality Control: Performs and documents Nuclear Instrumentation Quality Assurance of scintillation cameras, probes, well counters and survey meters according to state regulations. Provides an environment to prevent and control the spread of disease within the clinical setting. Which includes but is not limited to: Hand washing, aseptic and sterile technique 10% Management of Information: Accurately documents and communicates to appropriate care providers. Which includes but is not limited to: Confidentiality, documentation, clerical duties, release of information, and computer use. Schedules and charges exams in radiology computer system 10% Environment of Care: Assists with maintenance of equipment, supplies and environment. Which includes but is not limited to: Orders supplies, Equipment maintenance and Follows all safety standards for patients, employees and visitors. Identifies and reports potential barriers for the safe provision of patient care and maintains a safe patient environment. Supports initiatives related to meeting OSHA and accreditation standards. Practices Radiation Safety according to the standards set by the Bureau of Radiation Control 5% Patient Rights and Responsibilities-practices positive guest and peer relationships, supports and respects patient rights. Which includes but is not limited to: Informed Consent and Handles complaints 5% Human Resources responsible for personal growth and career development. Which includes but is not limited to: maintaining Licensure and Certifications, Annual competency assessment, Team work and effective communication 5% Performance Improvement: participates in organizational improvement. Required Qualifications
Graduate from an approved Nuclear Medicine program Texas Medical Board Medical Technologist-General Certificate; NMTCB or ARRT (NM), or registry eligible BLS through American Heart Association Nuclear Cardiology SPECT 6+ months in a clinical area. May consider a new graduate if hiring department can provide direct supervision for 6 months Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Nuclear Medicine Kelsey-Seybold experience Second language Pay is based on
