Job Description
Applies advanced subject matter knowledge to manage staff activities in solving common and complex business/technical issues within established policies. Manages exempt individual contributors. Has accountability for results of a major program in terms of cost, direction, and people management. Provides guidance on process improvements and recommends changes in alignment with business tactics and strategy for area of responsibility. Plans, manages, and monitors operational/tactical activities of Staff. Staff members' work may involve strategic issues. Recruits and supports development of direct staff members. Manages at least 6 employees and typically between 8 and 12 direct reports Key Responsibilities Lead, mentor, and develop a team of software and systems engineers responsible for the design, development, and delivery of Software Development Kit (SDK) and systems software solutions, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement. Drive execution across the full software development lifecycle, including planning, prioritization, resource allocation, project tracking, risk management, and delivery of high-quality products aligned with business and technology roadmaps. Collaborate with product management, architecture, and cross-functional engineering teams to define technical strategies, product roadmaps, and development priorities that meet customer and business objectives. Provide technical leadership and guidance on architecture, design decisions, scalability, reliability, and software quality, ensuring solutions align with long-term platform and engineering goals. Manage project schedules, budgets, staffing plans, and operational resources to ensure commitments are delivered on time, within budget, and according to organizational objectives. Communicate program status, milestones, risks, dependencies, and escalation items to engineering leadership, program managers, stakeholders, and development partners. Build and maintain strong partnerships with internal teams, external suppliers, and outsourced development organizations, ensuring clear expectations, effective collaboration, and high-quality deliverables. Lead operational excellence initiatives, including development process improvements, engineering productivity enhancements, cost optimization efforts, incident management, and service reliability practices. Recruit, retain, and develop top engineering talent through effective hiring, performance management, coaching, succession planning, and career development programs. Champion the adoption of modern engineering practices, development tools, automation, and AI-assisted software engineering capabilities to improve product quality, developer productivity, and innovation.
Education and Experience
Required Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent technical experience. Typically, 6–10 years of relevant software, systems, or embedded engineering experience, including 2+ years of people management experience. Knowledge and Skills
