Department Summary EchoStar has an exciting opportunity within our Hughes Network Systems division for a Logistics Freight/Transportation Specialist. This position will be located at our Manufacturing facility in Germantown, MD. Job Duties and Responsibilities Candidates must be willing to participate in at least one in-person interview. This role enhances the global logistics program by partnering with carriers, forwarders, brokers, and 3PLs to optimize transit times and ensure high operational reliability while minimizing costs. Core challenges include reducing transportation delays for inbound production materials and outbound finished goods to secure uninterrupted supply chain flow. The position mitigates logistical risks through proactive exception tracking, freight claim resolution, and rigorous financial auditing across multiple transport modes. By leveraging data analytics and AI tools, the operational lead continuously refines transportation strategies to meet departmental performance and cost objectives. What Success Looks Like (Objectives): Optimize transit times and carrier performance across parcel, LTL, FTL, ocean, and international freight to align with logistics cost-reduction targets Resolve transportation exceptions and manage freight claims end-to-end to prevent supply chain bottlenecks for production and customer deliverables Conduct freight rate RFQs and manage quote analyses to secure competitive pricing for urgent and specialized shipping programs Audit, code, and approve freight and customs invoices to maintain absolute accuracy in logistics financial operations Cross-functionally support import/export operations, including export documentation and HTS classification compliance Utilize AI tools and advanced analytics to forecast logistics risks, streamline carrier evaluations, and improve overall program efficiency Skills, Experience and Requirements Core Skills and Competencies (What you'll bring): Advanced expertise in freight negotiation, carrier management, and international trade operations Critical experience navigating import/export compliance, HTS classifications, INCO terms, and trade documentation Strong analytical ability to interpret data using advanced MS Excel functions and ERP platforms such as SAP AI Literacy and application skills to automate logistics workflows and optimize route planning High-level problem-solving and decision-making skills under tight, rapidly changing deadlines Collaborative communication capabilities to align internal departments, external vendors, customhouse brokers, and 3PL partners   Additional Qualifications: Practical experience utilizing ACE for filing Electronic Export Information via AES Direct Familiarity with SAP Sales and Distribution (SD) or GTS modules Demonstrated adaptability to support extended operational hours or urgent program demands when required   Minimum Requirements: Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree in supply chain, logistics, business, or equivalent combination of education and experience Minimum Experience: Previous experience in negotiation and management of parcel, LTL, and international transportation rates Advanced MS Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and macros   Visa sponsorship not available for this position Salary Ranges Compensation: $85,500.00/Year - $114,000.00/Year Benefits Candidates need to successfully complete a pre-employment screen, which may include a drug test and DMV check.
