About this Role Taylor’s Construction, a Quanta Services company, is seeking an experienced Safety Director to lead the company’s safety strategy and programs across telecommunications and utility construction operations. This role is responsible for establishing consistent safety expectations, developing field leadership, and ensuring employees have the training, tools, and processes necessary to perform their work safely.
The Safety Director will work closely with executive leadership, operations, field management, and safety personnel to identify and reduce operational risk, strengthen safety performance, and maintain compliance across aerial and underground fiber construction, directional drilling, excavation, splicing, utility pole installation, and related field activities. What You'll Do
Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of company-wide safety programs, policies, procedures, and field expectations. Partner with operations and field leadership to identify high-risk activities, strengthen pre-job planning, and integrate safety into daily construction execution. Provide safety leadership across the organization while building ownership and accountability among supervisors, foremen, and craft employees. Conduct and oversee field audits, jobsite assessments, and operational reviews across aerial, underground, HDD, excavation, and telecommunications construction activities. Lead serious incident and near-miss investigations, identify root causes and contributing factors, and ensure corrective actions and lessons learned are implemented across the organization. Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA, DOT, client, company, and state-specific safety requirements while maintaining readiness for customer and regulatory audits. Track safety performance, identify trends and emerging risks, and provide leadership with meaningful metrics and recommendations to improve field performance and reduce exposure.
What You'll Bring
10+ years of progressive safety experience in telecommunications, utility construction, infrastructure, or similar field-based construction environments, including 5+ years in a leadership capacity. Strong knowledge of construction safety practices related to aerial work, underground utilities, excavation and trenching, directional drilling, traffic control, heavy equipment, and utility pole operations. Demonstrated ability to lead safety programs across multiple crews, projects, and geographic locations. Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and applicable federal, state, and client safety requirements. Proven ability to influence field leadership, communicate effectively with craft personnel, and drive accountability throughout an organization. Experience leading incident investigations, corrective action programs, safety training, and performance improvement initiatives. CSP, CHST, CUSP, OSHA 500, or other recognized safety credentials preferred; ability to travel extensively to active project locations as required.
