Vital Link, Inc. (VLI) is seeking experienced Sheet Metal Workers to support the construction, installation, and maintenance of USAF Noise Suppressors, Engine Test Cells, and Hush Houses. This is a 100% travel-based position supporting projects on military installations throughout the United States and, potentially, overseas. This role offers the opportunity to work on specialized aerospace and defense infrastructure projects while expanding your trade skills and advancing your field construction career.
Job Overview
The Sheet Metal Worker is responsible for the fabrication, installation, modification, and repair of sheet metal systems used in industrial, aerospace, and military facilities. This position requires the ability to interpret construction drawings, work with precision, and safely perform installations in a field construction environment. Essential Duties & Responsibilities • Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal components and systems. • Install / repair work components, wall panels, roofing systems, flashing, siding, and related assemblies. • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions. • Measure, mark, cut, bend, and form sheet metal materials to required specifications. • Operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment. • Utilize grinders, drills, riveters, mag drills, shears, and other sheet metal tools safely and effectively. • Ensure proper alignment, fit-up, and installation of fabricated components. • Assist with field modifications and troubleshooting as required. • Maintain quality workmanship while meeting project schedules and customer requirements. • Follow all company safety procedures and project-specific regulations. • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. • Perform other related duties as assigned. • Willing to assist other tradesman Qualifications • Minimum of 2–5 years of sheet metal fabrication and installation experience. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications. • Experience with industrial, commercial, aerospace, or military construction projects preferred. • Proficient with common sheet metal fabrication and installation tools. • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. • Ability to work at heights, in varying weather conditions, and in physically demanding environments. • Reliable transportation with car Insurance • Must be willing and able to travel full-time. • Ability to obtain access to military installations as required. Travel Benefits Eligible employees may receive: • Daily per diem paid in accordance with current GSA rates while traveling. o 75% of the applicable per diem rate on the first and last day of travel. o 100% of the applicable per diem rate on all full travel days. • Lodging reimbursement up to current GSA lodging rates. • Mileage reimbursement between home and assigned work locations at the current federal mileage rate ($0.725 per mile for 2026). • Travel rate pay for qualifying travel time and distances associated with project assignments.
