KPMG is currently seeking a Tax Associate, International Indirect Tax to join our State and Local Tax practice.
Responsibilities
• Assist US Headquartered companies with analyzing the International Indirect Tax (VAT/GST) implications of their global business models, including industries such as e-Commerce, Digital Services, Financial Services, Pharmaceuticals, Manufacturing, Consumer Goods, Retail
• Advising Clients on complex supply chain considerations, global expansions, Mergers and Acquisitions, global structuring and tax controversy issues
• Advising on tax governance models; Assisting clients to optimize existing structures and processes through implementation of technology such as automation, digitization, and Gen AI, augmentation of procedures, use of outsourcing/co-sourcing models etc
• Monitoring global legislative developments and assisting Clients to understand business and compliance impact of new or augmented International tax regimes
• Co-ordination and delivery of International Indirect Tax compliance services
• Advising on Real Time reporting, Invoicing obligations, statistical reporting requirements, global tax trends and OECD developments
• Build capabilities in key technologies that enable tax professionals for client service delivery such as artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx, Power BI and more
Qualifications
• Must be pursuing and have obtained by the start date or have completed the following degrees/majors in the past 12 months: Bachelors and/or Masters in accounting, finance, taxation, mathematics, economics, information technology, data and analytics, engineering (financial, industrial or systems), or equivalent program from an accredited college or university
• Preferred: Degrees and/or areas of study: Accounting and Taxation
• Must be pursuing the state-specific education requirements to be a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the principal place of business (the state in which the office is located) for this position, with completion of required academic credits prior to the start date for this position
• Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above
• Coursework or minor in information systems, software engineering, computer science or data and analytics preferred
• Strong in technical, business acumen, critical thinking and agility skills. Demonstrated ability to excel and drive strategic outcomes, coupled with a professional demeanor and a collaborative leadership approach, in a dynamic, evolving environment
• Demonstrated quality service mindset, strong technical aptitude, ability to learn and navigate technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx and Power BI, MS Office Applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook and apply emerging technologies to enhance tax processes and insights
• Excellent communication, time management and leadership skills, feedback oriented, and resourceful in delivering high quality work
• Must reside within a reasonably commutable distance to the office for this position and be able to travel to reasonably commutable work locations using own means of transportation,
