Back End Software Engineer   Location Houston Digital Technology Center (HDTC), Houston, TX, USA   Mission We are seeking a Cloud Back-End Engineer to join our group. In this role, you will bridge the gap between application development and cloud infrastructure. You will be responsible for building high-performance, cloud-native services that leverage distributed computing patterns to serve our enterprise customers globally. The ideal candidate has a deep background in back-end engineering but views the cloud as a programmable environment, ensuring that our services are "born in the cloud" with high resiliency, elasticity, and security baked into the architecture.   Relationships Reports to Software Project Manager, Software Program Manager, Engineering manager or Team Leader   Responsibilities and Duties   Cloud-Native Development: Design and implement microservices utilizing cloud-native patterns (Serverless, Containerized Microservices, Event-Driven Architectures). Distributed Systems & Scalability: Architect back-end systems that scale horizontally across multiple availability zones and regions, ensuring low latency and high 9s of availability. Storage & Data Strategy: Optimize the use of cloud-native data stores and implement caching strategies to handle enterprise-level throughput. Cloud Security & Compliance: Adhere to and build with best-in-class security practices Scalable API Design and implementation: Build resilient APIs Cost & Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize cloud resource consumption (FinOps) to ensure back-end services are cost-effective without sacrificing performance.   Primary Technologies (at-least 1 in each category): Programming Languages C# Frameworks .NET API Development REST, GraphQL Database Integration MongoDB, Redis, PostgreSQL, MySQL Authentication & Authorization OAuth2, JWT, SSO, LDAP Caching & Performance Redis, Memcached, asynchronous processing Cloud Platforms Azure, GCP, AWS   Secondary Technologies Containers & Orchestration Docker, Kubernetes Monitoring & Logging Application Insights, Prometheus, Grafana, Elastic Search Cloud CI/CD Pipelines Azure DevOps Build & Release Automation MSBuild, Shell scripts Infrastructure Automation Terraform, Ansible, Bash scripting Message Broker RabbitMQ, Azure Service Bus Serverless Compute Azure Functions                          AI Coding assistants Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot   Qualifications & Experience Bachelors in computer science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Applied Statistics, Information Technology or Engineer with focus on software Have a good understanding of latest technological trends back-end development for Cloud applications   Behavior: Interpersonal communication.
