Reporting to the Senior Manager Product and Underwriting Strategy, this Underwriting Manager will develop and execute on business strategies to deliver premium and earnings goals and contribute to overall business objectives focusing on the Commercial Automobile line of business. Key accountabilities Develop and maintain robust understanding of regulatory requirements, industry and customer trends, and competitive landscape and propose insurance contract changes accordingly for Canada-wide Commercial Automobile Products. Act as Subject Matter Expert for small business underwriting strategy, rules and coverage wordings-related inquiries. Drive the design and development of new underwriting rules to achieve business objectives. Develop provincial regulatory filings where applicable. Develop an in-depth understanding of small business underwriting strategy and rules and a solid understanding of customer segments, customer needs, competitive landscape and trends in the General Insurance industry to assist in identifying new business opportunities. Lead the end-to-end management and refinement of small business insurance underwriting strategy and rules to achieve business and financial objective; lead discussions and collaborate with multiple stakeholders in delivering day-to-day projects and initiatives. Support the development, implementation and understanding of training material related to contracts if applicable. Develop and maintain processes to update advice and guidance wordings for underwriting operations and front-line colleagues.
