Reimagine What’s Possible Purpose: The position is responsible for safe and efficient commissioning activities to the highest standards expected by Air Products and shall be responsible for management and planning of all inspection, testing related to commissioning activities, and managing pre-commissioning, commissioning, and startup phases for projects of large ASU, Mid-Cryo, Standard Product (HPN,VSA,PSA,PHG, H2 PSA…), CDA ,PHG, purifiers, and CQC systems in Taiwan and Asia region with primary accountabilities on safety, cost, schedule, and reliability. The position plays a critical role in the successful pre-commissioning, commissioning, and startup of large and complex facilities by leading field commissioning team of multiple disciplines in order to meet project successful factors. This position must possess a commitment to safety and have excellent health commensurate with frequent international travel, a flexible attitude to travel, sometimes on short notice and be prepared for extended periods away from home. Facility locations are predominantly in Asia, but could be worldwide, some in harsh environments. DIMENSIONS The range of the size is from Standard Product facilities to Large Air Separation Units, and H2 facilities with asset value from $2MM up to $300MM . Project Specific Commissioning team typically consists of 5 to 50 members including administration support, startup leaders, startup operators, project supports, safety work permit writers, on site safety, process systems, process controls, E&I leaders, technicians (electrical, instrument, and mechanical), as well as supporting machinery, mechanical, electrical engineers, and equipment specifiers. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES 1. Responsible for EH&S of the commissioning team and all other personnel on the site (construction, contractors, vendors, customers, operations) during commissioning stage 2. Developing and aligning commissioning and startup strategy, including resource alignment, commissioning/ startup technical package preparation, tools preparation and schedule planning. 3. Leading commissioning team on site to conduct commissioning and startup tasks as planned in compliance with company work processes and standard/code requirements as well 4. Maintaining and handing over all commissioning and startup records, reports, drawings, etc. to Operation or Customer 5. Maintaining a right level of communication with all stakeholders 6. Leading plant performance tests 7. Collecting Lessons Learned proactively, closing them, and sharing with team as necessary 8. Daily reports and updates for commissioning progress, issues, risks, mitigating plans, path forward, etc. during commissioning stage JOB REQUIREMENTS The Startup Engineer shall have minimum 6-year experience of engineering or operation as well as minimum 3-year direct experience of commissioning and startup for large process plants. • Chemical engineering and/or chemical process control background will be a plus. • Frequent travel and expected full time at facilities during commissioning stage required • Oversea (e.g. Indonesia, Malaysia, etc.) travel to commissioning projects throughout the commissioning period required • Being able to work in team environment and always maintaining a positive disposition even in times of high workload • Demonstrating the highest degree of integrity within the team and with outside customers • This position requires experience in commissioning cryogenic & non-cryogenic ASU (air separation unit) plant and
