Job Description
We are building the future. Caterpillar’s Integrated Drivetrain Energy Solutions (IDES) Division will focus on delivering advanced electrified power train, zero-emissions products/technologies, and the solutions and services associated with these technologies. Focus areas include batteries, fuel cells, motors, inverters, micro grid controllers, charging, energy storage systems, lifecycle solutions/services and integration of components for ePowertrain solutions across industries. We are looking for top talent to build and scale the next generation of technologies, products, and services to help our customers build a better—more sustainable—world. Job Purpose: IDES currently has an opening for a Manufacturing Quality Lead. This position is located in Wuxi, China with responsibility for the in-process quality, pre-delivery quality, and quality issues related to battery manufacturing at customer side. The incumbent will report to the Director of Battery Manufacturing. The incumbent will partner with and provide technical manufacturing and assembly quality process guidance to global engineering and supplier partner teams, recognizing that this position faces ongoing change – increased competitive pressures, increasing product complexity, and ever-increasing customer demands. You will lead the quality management of complex projects, continually monitor internal and external supplier quality. You will mentor, coach, and assign daily tasks to team members and suppliers to improve both incoming and outgoing quality. Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: • Performing quality reviews and internal audits; evaluating data and writing reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards. • Monitoring engineering processes and products for adherence to company and regulatory standards and practices; participating in quality improvement initiatives and projects. • Analyzing statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and establish quality and reliability objectives of finished product. • Recommending modifications to existing quality or production standards and manufacturing process and equipment/tooling to achieve optimum quality. • Conducts investigations and analyses which contribute to the development and implementation of methods, procedures and equipment that ensure quality standards for parts and prime products. • Supporting quality metrics across multiple product families such as battery module, strings, and pack / groups, inverters, chargers, and other power electronics. Degree Requirement Four-year Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related Industrial, Manufacturing, Quality, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering/Technology curriculum Skill Descriptors Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.
