About this role
Title: Graduate Software Engineer Join a team that builds, ships and moves on to the next challenge. KBR Australia’s Digital Development team brings software engineering expertise to some of the country’s most interesting and technically challenging projects across transport, water, sustainability and defence. We build technology that solves real-world problems. Our team has pioneered the KBR Quantum Platform — a rapidly growing ecosystem of interconnected applications and digital services, described by some as “the Netflix of digital.” In other words: we build new tech, deploy it to real projects, and then move on to the next challenge. If you enjoy turning ideas into working software, taking ownership of what you build, and seeing your code used in the real world, we’d like to hear from you. What you’ll do As a Graduate Full Stack Software Engineer, you’ll play a hands-on role in developing and delivering proprietary applications and digital services. You will: Develop full-stack software for proprietary applications and digital services. Take ownership of applications across the full software development lifecycle — from solution architecture and design through to deployment, production and ongoing improvement. Design and implement software solutions that are scalable, maintainable and fit for purpose. Configure and manage CI/CD release pipelines using Azure DevOps. Work closely with other software engineers, technical specialists and project teams to turn ideas and requirements into working technology. Help shape the next generation of digital products within the KBR Quantum ecosystem. What we’re looking for We’re looking for Graduate software engineers who enjoy building things and are comfortable working across the stack. Experience with some or all of the following is highly desirable: JavaScript HTML CSS Python .NET You don't need to be an expert in every technology listed. We’re more interested in your software engineering capability, problem-solving skills and enthusiasm for building great technology. Show us what you can build We particularly value candidates who can demonstrate applied software engineering experience. This could be: A portfolio of professional or personal projects A GitHub repository A personal website An application or digital product you’ve built A game you’ve developed Any other example that demonstrates your ability to turn an idea into working software We’d much rather see what you can build than just read a list of technologies on your CV. Candidates must be in their final year of study (graduating in 2026) or have completed their degree in 2025. Relevant bachelor’s degree disciplines include: Computer Science Robotics Engineering Mechatronics Engineering Artificial Intelligence (AI) Data Science Game Development Candidates must be an Australian Citizen and eligible for NV1 clearance. Why KBR Digital Development? You’ll join a team where software engineering is about more than maintaining existing systems. We’re continually building new products, experimenting with new ideas and deploying technology into real projects. Build something new. See it deployed. Learn from it. Then take on the next challenge. About KBR KBR is a global engineering, science and technology organisation with more than 33,000 employees worldwide. In Australia, we partner with government and industry to deliver sustainable solutions across transport, water, buildings, defence and environmental sectors. Our teams work together to solve complex challenges and create outcomes that benefit communities across the country. What the Graduate Program Offers This program provides practical, hands-on experience within your chosen discipline, with graduates embedded in dedicated teams and contributing to projects that create meaningful outcomes for communities across Australia.
