The team you will be a part of You will join an elite, global cross-functional strategy and engineering task force within the CAA division at Whirlpool’s Global Technology & Engineering Center (GTEC) in Pune. Operating at the intersection of strategic cost transformation, competitive benchmarking, and product architecture, our team acts as an internal management consulting engine for a Fortune 500 leader in consumer durables. We partner directly with global design leadership, Global Strategic Sourcing (GSS), manufacturing, and product management units to unlock bottom-line value, optimize cost structures, and drive sustained market leadership. This role in summary As an Analyst in Mechanical Cost Modeling , you will serve as a core analytical driver responsible for building highly accurate clean-sheet cost models, establishing zero-based costing frameworks, and conducting deep-dive competitive teardowns. Leveraging 7 to 10 years of deep expertise across plastics, sheet metal, and tooling, you will translate granular engineering teardowns into high-level strategic insights that directly influence product architecture decisions, target costing, and long-term margin optimization across global platforms. Your responsibilities will include Strategic Clean-Sheet & Should-Cost Modeling: Lead end-to-end parametric should-cost model development for complex plastic components, injection tooling, sheet metal dies, and assembly processes in close alignment with Design, Manufacturing, and Plant GSS teams. Design-to-Cost (DtC) & Teardown Analytics: Direct competitive teardown studies and reverse-engineering initiatives. Synthesize complex teardown data into executive-level process insights, manufacturing sequence roadmaps, and actionable cost-reduction hypotheses. Strategic Architecture Alignment: Partner with the CAA Architecture Analysis team to build and maintain robust communication matrices and competitive benchmarking databases that inform internal Whirlpool manufacturing strategies. Supplier & Tooling Cost Optimization: Apply advanced process knowledge of injection molding, stamping, tooling design, and specialized polymer/metal processing to identify cost drivers and benchmark vendor pricing.
