As a Lead Software Engineer – UI Developer at JPMorganChase within the Chase Digital team (Consumer & Community Banking), you will lead and contribute to the design and delivery of modern web applications that improve how customers discover, access, and manage business banking capabilities. You’ll drive quality, performance, and reliability through strong engineering practices and partner closely across product, design, and technology to ship outcomes at scale.
Job responsibilities
Lead delivery across the team by coordinating engineers and driving execution in an agile environment to meet quality and timeline goals Design, build, and maintain responsive, accessible, and performant user interfaces using React, JavaScript, and TypeScript Establish and uphold engineering best practices across the software development life cycle (SDLC), including code quality, testing, and release readiness Engineer and optimize Single Page Applications, focusing on page performance, user experience, and scalable front-end architecture Implement comprehensive testing strategies including unit, component, integration, and end-to-end tests to ensure product quality and completeness Collaborate across product, design, and engineering partners to translate business needs into well-architected technical solutions Improve development workflows by identifying and implementing enhancements to tooling, processes, and build pipelines (for example, Jenkins) Ensure solutions align with architecture standards and follow risk management and security expectations Leverages enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity (e.g., code generation/refactoring, unit test creation, documentation), while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards. Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation. Required qualifications, capabilities and skills Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience 10+ years of experience delivering technology solutions, with 8+ years of web development experience Advanced proficiency in React, JavaScript, and TypeScript for building production web applications 8+ years of experience with HTML5 and CSS, including strong fundamentals in modern web standards Demonstrated experience with testing frameworks and approaches for UI applications (e.g., Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress, Selenium) across unit through end-to-end coverage Strong experience integrating with RESTful web services and building scalable client-side integrations Strong understanding of software design patterns and paradigms, including object-oriented programming and functional programming concepts 5+ years of experience with build pipelines and automation tooling (e.g., Jenkins or similar) Working knowledge of using enterprise-authorized AI capabilities within the work environment to support software engineering workflows with strong validation habits and awareness of data sensitivity. Ability to review and validate AI-assisted code and technical recommendations before use, escalating when uncertain and following security and data handling requirements. Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills Experience customizing CSS frameworks (e.g., Bootstrap) and using CSS preprocessors (e.g., Sass or Less) Experience with GraphQL services and front-end integration patterns Demonstrated use of Test-Driven Development (TDD) and/or Behavior-Driven
