The Impact You’ll Make in this Role As a Litigation Attorney, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by: Manage strategies and tactics of complex, high-stakes litigation matters including products liability, intellectual property, mass tort, class action, and MDL (but excluding PFAS matters). Engage outside counsel, develop litigation strategies, develop and manage to a budget and fixed fee arrangement, participate in mediations and settlement conferences, and obtain input from relevant stakeholders. Provide proactive & strategic advice on areas of developing legal risks in external business & legal/regulatory environment. Develop effective partnerships with corporate functions to advance the Company’s litigation and dispute resolution goals and objectives, including Finance, HR, and Enterprise Risk Management. Lead litigation policy and program initiatives, including document retention, electronic discovery, careful communications and other issues. Provide proactive & strategic advice on areas of developing legal risks in external business & legal/regulatory environment Your Skills and Expertise To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications: Juris Doctorate degree (completed and verified prior to start) Ten (10) years of law firm and/or in-house litigation experience with demonstrated expertise leading the management of complex, high-stakes litigation including products liability, intellectual property, mass tort, class action, and MDL in a private, public, government or military environment Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include: First or second-chair jury and bench trial experience with strong trial instincts and strategic judgment. A sense of urgency to win. Creative thinking and a willingness to challenge the way things are typically done, even if that means being the only voice in the room. Executive level presence and communication skills that demonstrate clear, concise, practical, and actionable legal advice and counsel to senior level company management. Demonstrated ability to lead a global team of in-house and outside counsel lawyers and other legal professionals supporting the management of enterprise-level litigation. Work location: This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Center in Maplewood, MN.
