The purpose of this position has the overall objective of enhancing shareholder value by reducing taxes through effective tax planning strategies and defense of these strategies while ensuring the Company conducts its affairs with knowledge of and in conformity with applicable tax laws. This role plans and directs a major function in coordination with upper management within the tax department; functional areas may include: financial statement reporting, compliance reporting, international tax, and audit defense.
• Provide supervision to assure company policies, procedures, and methods are followed
• Provide high-level technical expertise in specialized tax functional area
• Identify and research relevant tax issues resulting from tax law changes and business decisions and makes recommendation to executive management
• Manage significant projects as needed by executive Tax management
• Regularly develop, establish, and continuously improve processes and procedures
• Maintain a close working relationship with controllers/finance managers as well as the company’s outside advisors to execute the duties
• Other duties as assigned Basic Job Requirements
• Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and eight (8) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to twelve (12) years if non-degreed; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
• Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders
• Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
• Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
• Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner Other Job Requirements
Preferred Qualifications
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and/or Juris Doctor Law (JD) certification or global equivalent required
• Master of Science in Taxation (MST) and/or Master of Laws (LLM) degree or global equivalent
• Seven (7) years of recent tax experience in a public accounting firm, law firm and/or large multinational company
• Three (3) years of managerial experience
• Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing and email as well as the intermediate use of spreadsheets and electronic presentations
• Effective oral and written communication skills
