US Indirect Tax Associate – JLL What this job involves: We are seeking a US Indirect Tax Associate to join our Global Tax group as part of our Americas Tax team in Chicago, reporting to the Senior US Indirect Tax Manager. In this role, you will manage critical tax compliance functions including personal property tax submissions, business license renewals, unclaimed property filings, and sales and gross receipts tax processes. You will play a vital role in ensuring JLL's adherence to indirect tax obligations across multiple jurisdictions while contributing to process improvements that leverage technology and scale with our company's growth. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop expertise in diverse indirect tax areas while working collaboratively within a dynamic global tax team. What your day-to-day will look like: Prepare and submit personal property tax valuations to taxing authorities throughout the year, verify assessment computations, process check requests, and prepare required journal entries Complete business license renewal applications for existing and new office locations, including form completion, payment processing, journal entry preparation, and signature procurement Collaborate with business units on unclaimed property due diligence, verify data completeness, and prepare state unclaimed property filings during peak filing season (August through October) Assist with monthly sales and gross receipts tax compliance by reviewing service taxability, researching applicable rates across jurisdictions, assisting with return filings, and responding to internal technical questions Organize and respond promptly to tax notices, inquiries, and audit requests from taxing authorities, escalating matters appropriately and providing necessary supporting documentation Perform monthly reconciliations of tax-related balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, leverage technology tools including AI, and support scalable growth Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required; degree in accountancy preferred 2+ years of experience in a corporate tax department or public accounting firm Preferred Qualifications: 1-2 years of experience working with sales & use tax or other indirect taxes Experience with personal property tax, business licenses, or unclaimed property compliance Strong affinity for numerical information and familiarity with accounting principles Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within teams and proactively communicate across the organization Experience identifying tax savings opportunities through technical research and analysis Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple competing deadlines Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities Proficiency in using tax research tools to interpret statutes, regulations, rulings, and other technical documents to resolve complex tax issues Ability to independently manage schedule and prioritize work based on materiality, due dates, and business impact Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and demonstrated ability to learn new technology and AI tools Location: Chicago (Onsite) At JLL, we are collectively shaping a brighter way — for our clients, ourselves and our fellow employees.
