ECD plays a critical role as it adds value to Bain's case teams globally by supporting them with analytics and research solutioning across all industries, specific domains for corporate cases, client development, private equity diligence or Bain intellectual property. The BCN comprises of Consulting Services, Knowledge Services and Shared Services WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH: The Retail Center of Expertise collaborates with Bain’s global Retail Practice leadership, client-facing Bain leadership and teams, and with end clients on development and delivery of Bain’s proprietary Retail products and solutions. These solutions aim to answer strategic questions of Bain’s Retail clients relating to category management, COGS optimization, pricing & promotion analytics and customer analytics. You will work as part of the team in Retail CoE comprising of a mix of Director, Managers, Projects Leads, Associates and Analysts on projects ranging from 3 weeks to 6 months. Delivery models on projects vary from working as part of a broader global Bain case team, working independently with a Bain Associate Partner / Partner, or working directly with end clients. WHAT YOU’LL DO: Implement designs in code using React and Next.js with TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, and ShadCN/UI, delivering pixel-accurate, responsive, cross-browser experiences Integrate front-end applications with Python/FastAPI back-ends and REST APIs, ensuring efficient and optimized data interactions Optimize web performance, accessibility, and Core Web Vitals across all web products being developed Write reusable, maintainable, and well-documented code adhering to best practices and coding standards; troubleshoot, debug, and resolve defects promptly Support deployment of tools to cloud environments (Azure / AWS) using Docker and CI/CD pipelines with Git/GitHub • Own the end-to-end design process in Figma: research, information architecture, interaction design, prototyping, usability testing, and design QA Design intuitive, accessible user experiences for applications and products within the Retail domain (Grocery, Apparel, General Merchandise, e-commerce, B2B retail) – from user flows and wireframes to high-fidelity, production-ready UI Build and maintain reusable design systems and component libraries; rapidly prototype concepts using AI-assisted tools such as v0, Lovable, or Framer to validate ideas with stakeholders Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and consulting teams to translate business problems into scalable, user-centric solutions, and stay informed about design and front-end trends The Associate is expected to have a strong eye for design, seek out challenging problems, and produce their own ideas, which they will be encouraged to brainstorm with peers and managers. They should be willing to learn new tools and techniques, and demonstrate a willingness to write modular, reusable, and functional code ABOUT YOU: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred 2–4 years of experience in front-end development and UI/UX design for web applications or data products Proficiency in front-end development using React and Next.js
