Summary
As a Transmission and Distribution Engineering Intern , you will gain hands-on experience supporting the systems that deliver safe, reliable electricity to homes, businesses, and communities across Arizona. Working alongside experienced engineers, you will contribute to projects that help maintain, improve, and modernize critical electrical infrastructure. Potential Projects and Experiences
Collaborate with engineers on projects that support the design, planning, and operation of transmission and distribution systems. Analyze technical data and help develop solutions that improve the reliability and performance of electrical infrastructure. Participate in research, engineering studies, and technical reviews, then present findings through reports or presentations. Work with professionals across multiple engineering disciplines to support project goals and solve complex challenges. Visit project sites and learn how engineering concepts are applied in real-world utility operations. Build your technical knowledge through mentorship, networking opportunities, and exposure to utility industry best practices.
Who We’re Looking For
Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate degree program in engineering. Demonstrated academic achievement and commitment to learning and professional growth. Students with coursework or knowledge related to power systems engineering, transmission and distribution systems, load flow analysis, protective relaying, or related topics. Analytical thinkers who enjoy solving technical problems and interpreting data. Strong communicators who can clearly share ideas, findings, and recommendations with others. Team-oriented learners who are eager to collaborate, grow professionally, and contribute to meaningful work.
This paid, temporary full-time internship spans 10 weeks during the summer. Interns receive mentorship, professional development, opportunities for site visits, networking, and more. Minimum Requirements
Enrolled in an accredited college or university undergraduate or graduate degree program. Must show ongoing achievement in areas of study and training.
Preferred Qualifications
3.0 GPA or higher. Currently enrolled in or have successfully completed coursework in power systems engineering, including topics such as electrical grip operations, transmission and distribution systems, load flow analysis, or protective relaying. Major Accountabilities
1) Performs simple to intermediate analysis and designs. May assist in preparing business/engineering plans, designs, specifications, cost estimates, evaluations and studies. 2) Assists in research, business documentation, studies or technical reviews. Conducts analyses, investigations, verifications and summarizes results or findings in written reports or oral presentations. 3) Utilizes internal resources to learn business/engineering operations/functions and apply learning in completion of work assignments. 4) Coordinates efforts with other disciplines, and/or
