Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use. Scope of Position: Oversee operations and logistics within the Engineering Services warehouse lab to ensure equipment functionality and inventory. Manage inbound/outbound of all equipment and consumables deployed to the field in support of Engineering Services field support groups. Monitor/maintain inventory levels of consumables and oversee shipping of product returns in support of the Customer Notification (CN) process. Demonstrate proficient knowledge in network operations, maintenance, and repair practices. Become a primary point of contact for issuance of all Engineering Services equipment and materials. Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate field resource requests and provide equipment and consumable support for multiple concurrent field projects. Support domestic and international shipment activities for materials and equipment, including CN process requirements, freight coordination, LTL tracking, and on-time delivery. Work closely with the Marketing team to prepare, ship, and manage equipment, consumables, and bill of materials for Corning Fiber Installation and Corning Fiber Broadband Training classes. Provide technical assistance to internal and external customers related to the installation, splicing, testing, and troubleshooting of optical networks and associated equipment. Conduct training for new employees and customers on the proper operation, maintenance, and repair of optical test and splice equipment, while demonstrating proficiency in the use of such tools. Maintain accountability for warehouse-controlled equipment and inventory, including equipment check-in procedures, consumable inventory levels, calibration support, Salesforce tracking, and safe work practices in the ES Lab and Warehouse. Assist with daily Field Engineering operations by performing building and safety inspections, supporting live and virtual training sessions, identifying minor equipment repair needs, and providing additional operational support as needed.
Minimum Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent Experience in a warehouse setting with understanding of logistics and shipping Must be willing to remain in role for 2 years Must be able to work in various indoor and outdoor environments, lifting parcels and equipment weighing up to 50lbs Must be able to climb ladders
