Team / division overview DWS Corporate Functions Technology provides technology solutions for corporate functions including Finance, Risk, ALM and AFC. This role sits within the SIMS application team, supporting a financial data warehouse that provides management KPIs, quarterly and annual reporting, and other core business outputs. The current SIMS platform consists of an Oracle database and a Java web front-end. This position is focused on the database engineering and data platform side of SIMS. It is complementary to roles focused on reporting and business-facing outputs: while the reporting role focuses more on how data is presented, consumed and used by stakeholders, this role focuses on how data is modelled, integrated, controlled, optimised and prepared for reliable reporting and downstream use. Your responsibilities – As a Database Engineer, Assistant Vice President, you will: Design and implement database changes and interfaces to support new business requirements, including the Private Pension Reform integration. Work with business analysts, reporting colleagues and stakeholders to ensure new data is correctly integrated, validated and made available for reporting consumption. Maintain, enhance and optimise the current Oracle-based SIMS database application, including PL/SQL development, performance tuning and process improvements. Analyse and resolve data-related business and production queries, ensuring stability, reliability and timely delivery. Build a deep understanding of the existing SIMS data model, interfaces, controls and operational processes through hands-on current-state delivery. Use the knowledge gained from current-state SIMS work to contribute to the design and build of the future Snowflake-based platform and microservice-oriented architecture. Contribute to future-state data modelling, data lineage, data quality controls, migration approach and platform engineering patterns. Maintain and enhance reporting data marts built on a Data Vault architecture. Collaborate with the wider engineering team to ensure current delivery choices support the longer-term SIMS modernisation strategy We are looking for Master’s degree, or equivalent experience, in Computer Science, Business Information Technology, Engineering, Data Management or a related discipline. Strong professional experience in database engineering, with deep hands-on expertise in Oracle PL/SQL and relational database development.
