Job Title: Quality Technician C Job Code: 41052 Job Location: Rochester, NY Job Schedule: 5/8 or 9/80 Job Description: L3Harris is seeking a detail-oriented Material Quality Engineering Technician supports manufacturing operations by helping ensure supplier-provided materials meet quality, cost, and delivery requirements and are available to sustain production needs. This role contributes to supplier quality oversight, problem prevention, and continuous improvement efforts related to incoming and production material. The position works closely with suppliers and cross-functional internal teams to address material quality issues, support operational objectives, and maintain a consistent flow of conforming material. Essential Functions: Provide troubleshooting support to Operations and Manufacturing to sustain the Master Production Schedule (MPS) and minimize production disruptions. Analyze complex mechanical assemblies and stack-ups to identify points of failure and determine the presence of nonconforming supplier material. Execute containment activities, including inventory purge, material segregation, and disposition support, to prevent the use of suspect material. Compile, analyze, and present quality and failure data to Supplier Quality Engineering to support problem identification and issuance of Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs). Partner with Operations to evaluate and implement short-term corrective actions, including hand rework, model shop rework, and supplier-directed changes, as needed to maintain production flow. Develop and implement Receiving Inspection Plans (RIPs) to drive targeted inspection of future supplier deliveries and verify effectiveness of corrective actions. Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) activities within Focus Factories and support return-to-vendor processes for discrepant material. Support Receiving Inspection activities as workload and business needs require. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent with 6 years prior experience, 2-year post-secondary/AA Degree and 2 years prior experience Must be proficient in various measurement techniques and equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers, attribute gages, optical measurement, etc.) Must be comfortable with interpreting Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing per ASME Y14.5 Preferred Additional Skills: Certified IPC Specialist (CIS) certification for: IPC-A-600 IPC-A-610 IPC/WHMA-A-620 Experience with J-STD-001 Familiarity with Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) Familiarity with Agile Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Knowledge of statistical process control, Failure Modes & Effects Analysis, Measurement System Analysis, Process Capability studies, Corrective & Preventive Action, Root Cause Analysis In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $23.80 - $43.99.
