About this role
Build reliability into the products people depend on. At Resmed, we’re looking for a Site Reliability Engineer to improve the reliability, performance, and operability of our customer-facing digital health products. This is a hands-on role where you’ll move between software engineering, cloud infrastructure, observability, incident response, performance engineering, and release readiness to make meaningful improvements to production systems. You’ll work closely with Product Development, SRE, DevX, Security, and platform teams, helping engineers identify reliability risks earlier and address them directly in application and service code. The goal goes beyond monitoring. You’ll help create services that perform better under load, recover more effectively, and are easier for teams to operate and support in production.
What You'll Do
Partner with product development teams to improve the reliability, scalability, and performance of applications and services directly through code. Identify and help resolve production issues involving latency, resiliency, service dependencies, failure handling, capacity, and system behaviour under load. Build and improve observability using Datadog, logs, metrics, traces, APM, cloud telemetry, dashboards, and alerts to create greater visibility into production behaviour. Support production readiness for new features, releases, migrations, and other customer-impacting changes, helping teams identify risks before they reach production. Use production data to help define practical SLIs, SLOs, alerting thresholds, and reliability priorities that reflect real service behaviour. Drive performance engineering activities including profiling, load testing, bottleneck analysis, capacity planning, performance monitoring, and regression detection. Improve incident response practices, runbooks, alert quality, post-incident actions, and the resolution of recurring production problems. Help engineering teams design and evolve services that are easier to operate, troubleshoot, scale, recover, and support in production. Surface reliability and performance risks earlier, helping teams make durable improvements at both the code and architecture level rather than relying only on dashboards and alerts. What You Bring Three or more years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, Production Engineering, Platform Engineering, DevOps, cloud infrastructure, or a related field. Hands-on experience operating Kubernetes or another container orchestration platform in production. Experience supporting distributed, customer-facing applications in AWS or a comparable public cloud environment. Experience with production monitoring, alerting, logging, and dashboarding. Experience troubleshooting application, container, network, and infrastructure issues. Experience building internal operational tools or developer self-service workflows. Familiarity with SLIs, SLOs, availability, latency, throughput, error rates, and resource saturation. Experience participating in production incident response or an on-call rotation. Ability to automate operational work using Python, Go, Bash, or another relevant language. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Nice to have
Experience with distributed tracing and modern observability practices. Familiarity with cloud cost optimization and container resource efficiency. Experience with performance engineering, including load testing, capacity analysis, performance monitoring, or bottleneck identification. What Sets You Apart Reliability mindset: You look beyond a single incident or alert to understand underlying service behaviour and help prevent recurring production problems. Hands-on ownership: You’re comfortable moving between code, infrastructure, observability data, incidents, and release readiness to get to the root of a problem. Performance focus: You think about how systems
