The Opportunity
The Insights Strategic Consultant is a critical role in the Strategic Planning & Delivery team (SP&D) as they are responsible for data management and analysis of SP&D’s portfolio of initiatives that support MassMutual’s short- and long-term goals. Each Insights Strategic Consultant is responsible for the data integrity, reporting and analysis at the portfolio level as well as providing Workstream Leads and Initiative Owners direct support at the Workstream level. The data, analysis support executive level decision making and ensure our teams on our track to deliver on our goals.
The Team
The SP&D Office oversees the planning, governance, and execution of strategic initiatives enterprise-wide that drive transformation and growth. It ensures strategic alignment, prioritization, and value realization across MassMutual’s portfolio, partnering closely with divisional leadership. SP&D is known for its disciplined approach to financial oversight, cross-functional collaboration, and transparent governance processes. The team includes roles such as Portfolio Leads, Insight Leads, Finance Leads, and Program Managers, each accountable for driving execution, managing budgets, and enabling decision-making through data and reporting The Impact As an Insights Strategic Consultant, you will develop relationships with Portfolio Leads, Business Owners and key stakeholders across the organization at all levels, to manage the data and insights across the SP&D portfolio. Your analysis will support the programs, projects and operational components that deliver associated benefits and help meet the organization’s strategic objectives. With this important role comes key accountabilities and responsibilities which include and are not limited to: Provide data analysis, reporting, and visuals to support the Head of SP&D, SteerCo, and the SLT in decision making Provide thought leadership on how to best operationalize and implement operational efficiency throughout the evolution of the program Partner with Wave team and stakeholders to ensure optimized user experience and processes Act as consultant to Business Owners to resolve data integrity issues or complete missing data elements Review and analyze execution risk of Functional Areas by reporting on project milestone progress and changes to forecast Provide analysis to Portfolio Leads outlining projects that are ahead and/or behind schedule Gather, analyze, and package data to prepare the Portfolio Leads with facilitating huddles, Functional Area meetings, and/or prioritization and sequencing problem-solving sessions Escalate issues, concerns, roadblocks to Portfolio Lead as appropriate The Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree 5+ years of experience with management reporting and analysis using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint 2+ of years experience creating dashboards and using other data visualization tools Ideal Qualifications MBA 3+ years of work experience of data analytics, statistics, financial modeling and/or complex problem solving A strong collaborator who demonstrates complex problem solving skills with a focus on the ability to work as a team to best operationalize governance and stakeholder reporting Familiarity with insurance products and distribution Experience managing stakeholder-facing platforms and/or data management tools Strong financial acumen What You Can Expect at MassMutual MassMutual offers the opportunity to do meaningful work within a purpose-driven organization that values long-term impact over short-term outcomes.
